I have a Carbon Black BMW with numerous RDS, swirls and other paint defects. It's quite new and the damage isn't bad by any means but it could do with correction.

Hand polishing doesn't touch these defects, and I presume that's partly due to BMW's hard paint.

And so I'm faced with buying a DA polishing kit, or taking it to a professional detailer. My fear with a DA is, can I cause much damage? I'd obviously be very careful but I'm wary of it. I know Rotary polishers are more of a danger if used incorrectly.

What kit would you recommend for a beginner, bearing in mind the paint type (BMW hard)?

Any other pointers or suggestions are welcome. I'm thinking around the £150 mark, all in, can go higher or indeed lower if appropriate.

I got the DAS-6 Pro after advice here.

Really is decent quality.

Others I'm sure will suggest pads, polishes etc as I just got a couple of Shinemate pads to use with DODO Micro Prime
